Some Winnipeg schools could send hundreds of children into remote learning as early as next week as they can be elevated to Orange — and potentially all the way up to Red under the province’s Pandemic Response System.
Sources say preparations are now being made, including teachers being asked to make a list of students who would be required to transition to remote learning.
The plan, yet to be announced by government, would be to target specific cohorts and schools, rather than a wide-spread shutdown of classrooms.
There will be a mix of Orange and Red designations, sources say.
Dr. Brent Roussin, the province’s chief provincial public health officers, deferred questions regarding more school restrictions to government’s education department during his news conference on Thursday.
