Johnson & Johnson pauses Covid-19 vaccine trial after ‘unexplained illness’

Johnson and Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate has been paused while the company investigates whether a study participant’s “unexplained illness” is related to the shot.

The company explains that such illnesses, accidents and other so-called adverse events are an expected part of large clinical studies.

Said vaccine on its Phase 3 trials began in late September, and is one of the largest in the world so far and is being tested among 60,000 volunteers in the U.S., South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru
