Celebrated by almost two billion people across the world, this is the third year in a row that Lunar New Year is celebrated in the shadow of the pandemic.
Also known as Chinese New Year and Spring Festival by many east Asian cultures, Lunar New Year falls on different dates each year and typically lasts 16 consecutive days. This year, Lunar New Year starts today Jan. 31 and ends Feb. 15, 2022.
Event is usually marked with festivities rich with culture and tradition, the celebration. Celebration usually centers around hope for good fortune and prosperity.
Lunar New Year is annually linked to one of 12 zodiac animals – each possessing their own character traits. Year 2022 is the Year of the Tiger.
