The Assiniboine Zoo is home to several beautiful creatures like snow leopards, Amur tigers, and white-handed gibbons but many of these species are at risk due to habitat loss and other impacts related to human activity, according to Grant Furniss, Senior Director of Zoological Operations Assiniboine Park Zoo.
This Victoria May Long Weekend, from May 21 to 23, the Zoo will hold its “Endangered Species Weekend” where Zoo lovers can learn about endangered and vulnerable species and how to protect them.
There will be scavenger hunt, crafts-making, selfie and intreactive discovery station, sidewalk chalk art and mascots.
Visitors are also encouraged to support “the Snow Leopard Trust”, an organization engaged in research, conservation and education programs designed to protect the future of snow leopards in South and Central Asia.
The Zoo is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Regular Zoo admission applies.
