Twenty years ago, in March 3 , 2001, Chester Pangan, a young man then in his twenties joined the airwaves of CKJS 810AM while also behind producing shows for other multi-lingual programs.
Starting his career in radio in Angeles City, Pampanga in his pre-teens, Chester’s broadcasting career is inspired by his father and hero, Perry Pangan- who is a popular radio personality in their home province.
Though voicing commercials as soon as he started to talk, Chester started his career as broadcaster for his dad’s rival station— GV 99.1 FM when he was 17. He also produced show in local television Channel 3 in Angeles City.
During his two decades stint for 810AM CKJS, Chester has interviewed bigwigs in Canada which included Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and former Prime Minister Stephen Harper to name a few.
He had tete-a-tete with many visiting Philippine celebrities like Freddie Aguilar, Lea Salonga, Vina Morales, Parokya ni Edgar, Joey Albert and many others and has been favorite showman (master of ceremony) for big community endeavors.
Married to Marjurie and blessed with three children, Chester wins the hearts of our thousands of listeners because of his wit, charm, genuine friendship, spontaneity — not to mention stored knowledge and practical thoughts on many areas of life including love and relationship, family life or in simply being gorgeous.
As host of primetime morning “Good Morning Philippines” show, Winnipeg’s large Filipino community love waking up Monday to Friday getting in the upbeat mood inspired by Chester’s positivity and energy which are good day starters.
