COMMUNITY: 33rd Teddy Bear Picnic draws thousands

Rain or Shine, teddy bears and other stuffed toys had a great time  outdoors at the  33rd annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic held Sunday at Assiniboine Park.

Over 50 tents provided  a fun, entertaining and educational experience for the whole family.

Volunteer  health professionals were also  in site showing  and explaining  various aspects  of health care.

Kids had fun with games, face paint, mascots and had some interaction with ghostbusters and community heroes like  policemen and  firemen.

Eight year old Zedric who brought his Sonic the Hedgehog  stuffie had a serious  chat with an officer  who  listened to his story about his created comics character fighting  villains.  The policeman  quipped   “Do not forget to include policemen in your story.”

He and his 6-year old cousin Nejan also enjoyed their tour of the fire truck.

The event also gave chance  for the  kids’ favorite stuffed animal  to have a check up at the  Dr. Goodbear Clinic.

Evanov Radio is  proud to be part of this  Winnipeg tradition which is a big fundraiser for the  Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

Friends from CKJS  810, Hot 100.5 and Energy 106 joined local celebrities and other  volunteers  from the media at  the Rotary Club Tent where they grilled and served  hotdogs and burgers.

Proceeds from purchases and sponsorships throughout the day will go towards research, equipment and programs at the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg.
