Lorence Dela Cruz of Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Winnipeg Team hailed Slum Dunk Champion at the Under Armour All-Star Slam Dunk Contest during the recently concluded 2023 National Basketball Training Centre (NBTC) held between March 15 to 19 at the SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City, Philippines.
De la Cruz was invited to represent Canada in the said funk competition. He and his team mates represented Canada in the 2023 NBTC League National Finals competing against 23 teams from different countries in the world.
During the game, Dela Cruz also was named into the All Star game and was awarded with medal and PhP 4,295 Gift worth of Under Armour Gear. His Team Hustle won the All Star game and received 50,000.00 which was donated to the Sisters of Mary charity.
The 5’8′ tall Filipino-Canadian, known for his googles, has been member of the Manitoba Provincial Team that competed for the 2022 Canada Summer Games. He finished his high school season at St Paul High School as the AAAA boy’s provincial champions and is a member of the basketball team that won the 18U NBTC Canada Regional Qualifier Tournament.
