Irek Lemans long-time host of Multiilingual 92.7 FM CKJS’ Rado Polonia was honored with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in a ceremony held on Dec 12th at the Manitoba Legislative Building.
Irek was recognized for his significant contribution to the Polish community and to the province and for his many years of hard work for Sokol Winnipeg and as host and program producer of Polish radio program Radio Polonia,
Since 1996, Irek broadcast Radio Polonia, both from the CKJS studio as well as from remote locations. As a passionate media practitioner, Irek has attended a number of journalism workshops in his home country.
Irek was one of the 50 Manitobans who were honored on Monday by Lieutenant Governor Anita Neville in the presence of Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson and MLAs Cathy Cox, Shannon Martin, Diljeet Brar, Mintu Sandhu and Cindy Lamoureux. Aside from Irek and Lucille Nolasco-Garrido (who is also from 92.7 FM CKJS) , another medal recipient is the President of the Ukrainian Congress Joan Lewandowski.
