Winnipeger recognized for the Bayaning Filipino Youth Awards


Winnipeger Loizza Aquino is  one of this year’s  North America Youth Awardees and finalist   for the Gawad Geny Lopez Bayaning Filipino Awards.   This is an annual search honoring modern-day ordinary Filipinos around the world  who make a difference in their communities.

Loizza Aquino, 17 of Vincent Massey Collegiate is the founder and president of  Peace of Mind 204 Inc which  leads the campaign Youth Against Mental Illness Stigma  that  raises awareness on mental health among youth in Manitoba.

She and fellow awardees were presented  plaque of appreciation at   The Filipino Channel Global Office at Daly City, California on April 12, 2017.

The event was  attended by  city politicans,  executives  from ABS- CBN Broadcasting Company  (which organized the event)  and  popular  Star Magic and Kapamilya  artists which included Coco Martin, Jody Sta Maria, Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil among others.

Loizza made it to the final awardees   from among the many nominated candidates this year.  One grand winner will  be announced later this month.  Awarding will be done in the Philippines.

A full documentary featuring Loizza, her  work and contribution to the community  plus the  beautiful sights of Winnipeg will be shown in TFC next month. Details to follow.
