Thousands march through downtown for the Winnipeg Pride Parade

Celebration of acceptance, love, equality, authenticity and diversity.

Rainbow colors  filled the streets as thousands marched through downtown  at Winnipeg’s 31st Pride Parade on  June 3, 2018  with over a hundred floats.

The day began with a rally at the Manitoba legislature before participants made their way across Broadway on to Memorial Boulevard. From there, they headed east on York Avenue, then on to Fort Street.

This year’s theme, ‘My First Pride’, was billed a way for people reflect on their first experience at the festival and welcome people taking part for the first time.

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister  spoke at a rally organized by the festival ahead of the parade Sunday.

Among the political personalities seen in the parade were Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman,  Leader of  Manitoba NDP Wab Kinew and  MP Robert  Falcon Oulette.

The Pride Festival at The Forks followed  the parade later on the day.
