A sold out event at the Club Regent Centre featured Tony Award winner LEA SALONGA for an evening of musical extravaganza with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra on April 27, 2017.
The amazingly fabulous international star did a brilliant performance that covered her famous theatre songs that included “I dreamed a dream” and “On my Own” from Les Miserable and Disney’s “A Whole New World” from Alladin, “Reflection” from Mulan and others from Broadway and Westend musicals. She also did a rendition of whole lot of classic, pop and jazz selections.
Aside from being known in the world of musical theatre, 0Lea is also a popular recording artist, television performer and movie actress in the Philippines. Lea originated the lead role of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon. This earned herself the Olivier and Theatre World awards and made her the first asian to win a Tony Award.
Just recently, Lea also appeared on Allegiance, a history-inspired musical which charts the lives of Japanese Americans who were placed into U.S. concentration camps during World War II. Currently, she is one of the coaches for a reality singing competition in the Philippines.
