Philippines TV host actress-comedienne Maine Mendoza who rose to stardom as Yaya Dub in the popular noon-time show Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye opened her true feelings and released a blog post recently that gained mixed reactions from fans and non-fans around the world.
The dubsmash queen took to social media her appeal for her fans to give her the freedom “to feel what I want to feel, be what I want to be, and do what I want to do,” she says.
In the said blog, she thanked her many supporters but also said she feels she lives in a box with fans telling her how she should act.
Maine said she feels that some people who surround her are entitled, not only with her career choices, but to her personal life.
Earlier, Maine took the liberty to tell the world that she and Alden in the phenomenal AlDub tandem are just friends. She also apologized to all the people who were bashed because of them.
Maine said she is in showbiz because she wants to make people happy by just being herself and not for money or fame.
She said words of her fans are affecting her and no longer makes her happy because they hurt her loved ones, including her family.
I want to be able to do what I want and what makes me happy because I believe that is how life should be.
“I do not want to compromise my own happiness for other people’s desire. So this time, I am choosing myself. Ako naman,”
Maine, who is Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza in real life, is also a song writer and singer , product endorser and has appeared on TV sitcoms and movies.
She was first known as Queen of Dubsmash because of her viral videos on You Tube. Her career started when she was launched on Philippine TV as Divina Ursula Bokbokoba Smash or Yaya Dub.
Her rise to fame is often described as phenomenal and unconventional due to the unscripted forming of the love team Aldub on July 16, 2015 where she was paired with Alden.
