ENTERTAINMENT: George Clooney, Oprah, Steven Spielberg donate to “March For Our Lives”

Holywood actor George Clooney  and wife Amal announced they would  be making a donation  in the name of their 8-month-old twins, Alexander and Ella to “March For Our Lives”  an event formed in the aftermath of last week’s deadly shooting at a Florida high school.

“Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country,” the Clooneys said.

Oprah Winfrey and  Steven Spielberg are also  taking a cue from George and Amal Clooney and followed making their own sizable donations.

“March For Our Lives”  was formed by survivors of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead.
The group is planning a rally in Washington, D.C. on March 24 “to demand that a comprehensive and effective bill be immediately brought before Congress to address…gun issues,” according to the organization’s mission statement.

There is also a national walkout planned for March 14. Students, staff and parents are being urged to quit schools for 17 minutes at 10am.

“Students and staff have the right to teach and learn in an environment free from the worry of being gunned down in their classrooms or on their way home from school,” wrote organisers.
