ENTERTAINMENT: Donita Nose and Super Tekla warm hearts and bring out loud belly laughters

Undeniably funny with some spiels  suited for  parental guidance.
Non-stop giggles and laughters  as  gay power  took over  the centre stage  at the Fairmont Hotel this weekend  featuring  Filipino actors,  comedian and TV hosts Donita Nose and Super Tekla.

“Summer Pinas-Saya”   brought the house down bringing  a type of comedy that not only makes the audience  laugh  but provides a  platform to raise awareness about  the freedom for self-expression and acceptance for members of  LGBTQ community.

This is the second time the dynamic duo staged a show in Winnipeg as part of their cross Canada tour for this year.  Winnipeg’s show is the initial offering of  Z  Productions.

The two impressed the crowd with their powerful  singing vocals aside from their spontaneous bantering that made the audience had their loudest belly laugh.

Some audience members were asked to join the duo on stage and some  even became subject of their jokes  such as Member of Parliament Kevin Lamoreux  and Mayoralty Candidate Umar Hayat.

Donita Nose blushed as she apologized to Lamoreux upon learning he is like a  congressman in Canada.  “Sorry Sir  if  I   made fun of you. Please  don’t  deport me!.”

Super Tekla said  a  gay President will solve the insurgency problem of the Philippines.   “If he drop some gays in the mountain with eight of them for every one  rebel, this bandits will surely run and go down  the mountain in a flash.”

Super Tekla  said she loves  making  overseas Filipino workers happy and  shared  that she will soon appear in a movie with Jennelyn Mercado.

John Z, who is also the line producer of the show, acted as emcee of the evening  with impromptu sidekick co-emcee Aldous de Guzman. He was also one of the front act performers.    A raffle draw was made to make the crowd busy while waiting for the performers.

Local  singers Jamez Cruzat  and Jhoanna San Jose  did amazing performance and wowed the crowd.  James has been  known to grace many community events as guest singer and has made his own followings.

Jhoanna,  a new immigrant, on the other hand, is a revelation.

One of the higlights of the evening was Donita Nose’ duet with Jhoanna as they did their breathtaking version of  “Chandelier”.

Donita Nose or Rodel Soriano in real life is  best known as a transwoman comedian in comedy bars like Punch Line and Klownz. She  got her name from  actress and MT VJ  Donita Rose whom she  impersonates.

Romeo Librada in real life,  Super Tekla  also started in comedy bars  after  riding a boat from home province North Cotabato.  He is now  under  GMA Kapuso Network  and  appears in  his  first full-length teleserye  Inday Will Always Love You.

The duo became household name when they  became co-hosts  of  Willie Revillame in his show for a time.

Summer-Pinas Saya was made possible by the support  of  advertisers and  volunteers.  CKJS is a  media partner.

Despite lapse in starting the show later than expected,   much of the audience  said they   had the best of time especially the VIP ticket holders who got the chance to meet-and-greet with the two celebrity darlings.

Summer Pinas-Saya  is one entertaning event for the book that will leave beautiful memories of this summer  that  tells us that we all need a good  laugh and  to not take life seriously.

“Laugh my friend, for laughter ignites a fire within the pit of your belly and awakens your being.” (Stella and Blake).
