COMMUNITY: Teddy Bear Picnic celebrates 32 years

Despite the morning rain,  thousands of  people came down to have fun  at the  32nd annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic in Winnipeg on Sunday, May 27, 2018.

The annual event at the  Assiniboine Park is a strong fundraiser   for The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

The event  teaches children about the importance  of  healthcare  by showing them how to fix up their stuffed animals. It is also  a great chance for the kids to go around and meet real life nurses and doctors and remove the stigma of going to the hospitals.

This year,  there was a  new addition to the Dr. Goodbear Clinic –the Worry Bear Tent which focuses on the importance of children’s mental health.

Almost 50 tents were set up outside the Lyric Theatre with  activities,  food,  musical entertainment and  family-friendly attractions like  mascots, toys or  face paint.

As in the previous years, CKJS  is proud to be part of this worthwhile endeavor.

The millions of dollars raised every year by the charity  event  stays inside the province and supports the work of the foundation.
