
Despite the brutally cold evening, Winnipeggers lined up the streets this wekeend to welcome Santa Claus as he made his way through the city.
The parade that began at Portage Avenue and Young Street, and headed down Portage Avenue to the intersection of Portage and Main amazed hundreds of onlookers young and old.
For the first time, one of the 77 floats this year captured Filipino cultural ingenuity. The Parol Float showcased the traditional Filipino lanterns that symbolize the true Pinoy Christmas.
The float featured colourful capiz Parols made in the Philippines and included creative entries in the ongoing Parol-making Contest.
On the float, Filipino Canadian World Champions in the recent World Karate Championship waved and showed Filipino pride.
Organizers from Parkong Pinoy sa Canada and Mabuhay TV led by Lourdes Federis wish to thank their Parol float sponsors and supporters which included Councillor Vivian Santos, Roldan Sevillano Jr., Dalagita, Focus Hyundai, The Home Depot and the Winnipeg Sikaran Arnis Academy.
