COMMUNITY: Philippine Consular Outreach set in Winnipeg this March 19th


The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto made a recent announcement  on its website  that   Consular Outreach Team will travel to WINNIPEG, MANITOBA to render consular services for the Filipino community from  March 19 to 21,  2016.

Meanwhile,  Honorary Consul General Orlando Marcelino ends his three year tenure as the Philippines Consul General for Manitoba effective March 22, 2016, according to a copy of the letter shared  to  CKJS.

During his term, Orli and his volunteer team held regular office hours to answer and act on queries from the community, including visiting hospital and prisons and hosted an average of three consular outreach a year.

In his letter to Secretary Jose Rene Almendras of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Orli thanked his volunteers from the Friends of Filipino Immigrants and the Philippine Canadian Centre of Manitoba for their dedication.

CKJS has no word on who will replace Orli  or if  the regular consular services will be restored in Winnipeg.
