Canada eases pre-arrival travel requirements for fully-vaccinated travellers

Starting Feb 28,  Canada will ease entry for fully vaccinated international travelers-  allowing a rapid antigen test instead of  molecular PCR test.

The rapid antigen test  should be   taken no more than one day before the  scheduled flight or arrival at the land border and  would have to be managed by a laboratory, health care or telehealth provider according to  the announcement by   federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos Tuesday.

Travellers may still be selected for random testing upon arrival but will no longer have to quarantine while awaiting their test results.

The government is also easing its advisory recommending Canadians avoid non-essential travel due to the rise of the Omicron variant.

The new measures, announced by federal  health officials, include  allowing  unvvacinated  children younger than 12 to  travel with vaccinated adults.

Unvaccinated travellers will still be required to be tested on arrival into Canada and must quarantine for 14 days.
