Philippine actor, TV host, model and international frisbee athlete Derek Ramsay was in Winnipeg last week as part of the Australian team for the World Ultimate Masters Club Championships 2018.
Over 1,700 players from 72 teams and 13 different countries competed in the tournament that kicked off July 29.
Derek’s presence in the city reached the attention of followers who flocked to the Little Mountain Sportsplex to have a selfie with the actor/athlete well-loved for his box office movies.
Fhem Manansala, a self-confessed Derek fanatic, and her friends, went all the way to the field to see Derek in one of his games. “From all the artists I’ve seen so far, he’s the nicest. He is friendly and down-to-earth. And the pogiest!”
The tournament wrapped up on August 4th. Derek’s Fine Wine team lost to USA’s 512 in the mixed quarter finals. His team placed 6th in the overall standing.
Fans who were not able to see Derek at the frisbee tournament were able to have a glimpse of the actor/athlete in two surprise events.
Derek took time to connect to his avid followers during a “Meet and Greet” event held at Petrous Hall where he serenade them and played games with them.
Derek also appeared as special guest in Morisette’s concert.
