BLOG: Beauties that Inspire love of Earth

“Heroines Fighting Climate Change”  is this year’s  theme of Miss  Earth  Beauty Peagent – an annual international environmental-themed  beauty contest  promoting  love for environment.

Considered as one of  largest  beauty pageants in the world,  Miss Earth  has  86  candidates this year  representing  different countries around the world.

They   explored  many  places  in  the world  and in the Philippines  to  help create  environmental awareness.

As part of their eco tours,  one of the locations they visited  was the  Dive and Trek Resort and Marine Sanctuary in Bauan, Batangas.

They were given first hand  information and hands-on exposure  on clam seeding, coral recovery and  coastal cleanup.

the visit @ Dive and Trek serves as Homecoming to Miss Earth hopefuls since 2004.

My videographer/editor  brother Guise Natividad  and his team @ AndCut  covered  the visit  of   Miss Earth Candidates’  to Dive and Trek.  He gave me permission to share his  beautiful video on our site:

There are  86 delegates in this year’s competition.   Philippine representative is  Karen Ibasco,  a medical physicist who nabbed the gold medal among Asian contenders in the national costume competition that was done earlier.

Another  hopeful with Filipino blood is  Miss Earth-Canada 2017   Jacqueline Juntilla Marsh.

When he had this picture taken for me, Guise did not have any idea  Jacquelyn is half-Filipino.    Standing at   5”11, she has a  Filipino mother—Teresita Juntilla, a native of Barangay Libertad in Ormoc City, Leyte.    Jacquelyn whose family lives in Thunder Bay   is the reigning Miss Ontario titleholder, before she joined the Ms. Earth-Canada pageant,  where she bested 11 other candidates, two of whom were Filipino -Canadians also.
