Rainbow Stage’s take of the blockbuster musical Beauty and the Beast give its viewers a summer experience to remember. This the second time the popular Disney fairy tale is staged in Winnipeg since its first production in 2009.
Audience could only watch in awe how every single performer showed off his/her talent on stage in a show that takes pride in having an all-Manitoba cast.
Filipino-Canadian Stephanie Sy did not disappoint as she plays the leading character of BELLE opposite Timothy Gledhill as BEAST.
Stephanie put to life the character of a girl who loves reading who is confident and independent-minded who refuses to be mistreated and controlled by anyone , like Gaston or the Beast.
Her portrayal of a laid back but intelligent and beautiful young woman from a small French village showed depth of emotions.
Her movement, voice projection, musicality are outstanding. She has charisma that makes her connect to the audience instantly.
Watching her transform wearing her glittery ball gown certainly left many hearts singing.
Beauty and the Beast has impressive stage and production, sound and music. It’s a show that makes the audience respond with an applause at the end of every song, chant and dance.
It is perhaps one of the grandest production we have yet to see in Winnipeg.
Definitely Broadway. Uniquely Winnipeg!
